Seattle, WA - June 8, 2023 – Africatown’s William Grose Center (WGC), a leading educational institution dedicated to empowering youth and adults through innovative programs, is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of its introductory hydroponics class. Participants of the program will be awarded their certificates during a special ceremony on Thursday, June 9, 2023.
The hydroponics class, which provided students with a comprehensive understanding of soilless gardening techniques, garnered tremendous enthusiasm and participation from individuals of all ages. Through hands-on experience and expert guidance, the participants developed essential skills and knowledge in the field of hydroponics.

"We are thrilled to have concluded a successful hydroponics class at the William Grose Center," said Ty Griffin, WGC Program Manager. "The participants have shown incredible dedication and passion for this sustainable farming method. We are proud to equip them with the necessary skills to explore and excel in the field of hydroponics. Adding key elements of computer science such as 3D modeling really expanded their knowledge of the intersection between technology and agriculture!”

In addition to the hydroponics class, WGC recently hosted Def Chef and students from Summit Sierra for three weeks of engaging and educational cooking classes. The collaboration provided a unique opportunity for students to enhance their culinary skills and discover their passion for cooking.

Continuing its commitment to offering diverse and transformative programs, WGC is currently running an Arduino Coding program in collaboration with UW's AVELA Students. The program enables elementary to high school students to build and code their own gadgets using Arduino technology, fostering a solid foundation in electronics and programming.

"We are dedicated to providing a diverse range of programs that foster learning, creativity, and personal growth," stated Ty Griffin, WGC Program Manager.
